What’s a Spring Game

A spring football game is basically a scrimmage-style game played at the end of spring practices.

What it is

  • A practice game, not part of the official season

  • Usually played team vs. team within the same program (Teams are split into 9th -11th-grade)

  • A chance to show what the team has been working on

What happens

  • Coaches may stop play, teach, and adjust during the game

  • Players get rotated a lot, so everyone gets reps

  • It’s more about development and evaluation than winning

Fans

  • First, look at the new team, new players, and new energy

  • More relaxed, fun environment

  • Often includes music, announcements, and side games.
